Fatou Ceesay

Executive Director

Fatou comes with over 25 years of experience working with the geriatric community, she started her career in this field as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Fatou’s passion and empathy for seniors is exemplified by her enthusiasm for providing the best quality care for all her residents and maintaining a positive work environment for all associates. Fatou has an associate’s and bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration. Fatou has worked closely with nonprofit organizations in west Africa to provide basic health care in the rural areas.

Fatou is happily married to her husband with two small kids whom she loves spending quality time with. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and travelling around to west Africa to visit her extended family.

Acting Activities Director

Laura began working with the senior population over 20 years ago when she cared for her grandmother who was living with Alzheimer’s Disease. She started working for Pomeroy Living in July 2021 as an Activities Assistant and was quickly promoted to Acting Activity Director in July 2022.  She is currently taking the necessary courses and studying to earn her National Activity Director Certification. Laura’s positive attitude and endless energy helps to invigorate and encourage our residents to participate in activities such as daily exercise programs, ball drumming, arts & crafts, sing-a-longs, spiritual enrichment programs, and so much more! She is passionate and devoted to enriching the lives of each resident especially those living with Dementia.

Housekeeping Director

Kendal began working at Pomeroy Rochester Assisted in February of 2021 as a Housekeeper and was quickly promoted to Housekeeping supervisor just three months after. Kendal absolutely loves working with the geriatric population and loves keeping his residents happy. Kendal is a team player, passionate about keeping the residents pleased and loves to have fun with everyone at Pomeroy! When he’s not at work, you can find Kendal riding his bike or spoiling his miniature pinscher, Cody! He also loves spending time with friends and family, listening to music, going on long walks and traveling.

Jessica has been in the nursing field for over 12 years. She worked as a caregiver early in her career. Jessica continued to pursue her nursing degree and became a registered nurse in 2012 where she obtained her first nursing job at Pomeroy of Sterling Heights. She has been in management for the past 4 years and is passionate about building concrete relationships with staff and families to secure success. Jessica is an advocate for our geriatric population and has a passion for promoting and ensuring the best quality of life for our residents. When she’s not at work, Jessica loves to be outdoors with her 4 kids & husband! Her kids ages range from 11 years old to 1 years old!

Director of Sales and Marketing

Lea graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy. She continued her education by becoming a Certified Dementia Practitioner. Lea has worked in senior living for just over 3 years and enjoys fulfilling the lives of our seniors! Her passion for the industry came through her own personal experiences of dealing with dementia in her own family. She started at Pomeroy Rochester Assisted in April of 2021 as our Activities Director and was recently promoted to our Director of Sales & Marketing in May of 2022! When she’s not at work, you can find Lea spending time with her boyfriend, family, friends, and new puppy, Rocky! In her free time, she likes to do crafts, workout & travel to Northern Michigan to spend her summers in Charlevoix. Growing up in Rochester, it is only fitting that she is part of our Rochester family now!

Executive Director

Jessica graduated with a degree in Political Science from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids. Following her education, she worked for the Michigan House of Representatives for 10 years. Shortly after the start of the pandemic, she pivoted into senior living in 2020 to do what felt most natural, giving back to the senior community.

Jessica is a dog mom and an active aunt to her many nieces and nephews. When she has free time, she spends it best staying active in Cross Fit or in the gym.

Chef Alvin Boyd or AB was born in Alabama and raised around southern cooking and barbeque. His family owned and ran a catering business where they catered for governor’s balls, the annual college senior bowl, Mardi Gras, Church functions and more. AB has worked in various areas of the food service industry ranging from catering large banquets to serving delicious food from the back of food trucks. His cuisine is greatly influenced by his grandmother and aunt whose style of cooking comes from the heart. During his teenage years, he moved north to Detroit, Michigan where he was thrown into a melting pot of international flavors and began to experience a broader spectrum of restaurants. This directly influenced his unorthodox method of creative cooking. His roots have led to 30 years of experience in catering 5-star hotels, pop-up kitchens, food trucks, door to door and personal cooking for all walks of life.

Housekeeping Director

Sharron has been a member of the Pomeroy Living family for two years and was recently promoted as the Director of Housekeeping. She is very passionate about helping others and enjoys the fact that she is making a difference in the residents’ lives each day. She has a desire to challenge herself and continue to be creative in what she does. Outside of work, Sharron enjoys cooking and staying healthy by working out.

Mackenzie Peterson

Director of Sales and Marketing

Beginning as a receptionist with the Pomeroy company, Mackenzie then began to learn and love the passion she had for creating an environment for our seniors to live in. Home is a feeling and Mackenzie is passionate about dedicating her time to impact the lives of many of our loved ones.

Mackenzie joined Pomeroy Living in September of 2018 but has come on as the Sales and Marketing director of Rochester Independent in September of 2020.

During Mackenzie’s free time, she enjoys the outdoors and spends her time camping or hiking. Just like her passion for seniors, she has a passion for adventure.

Julie Turnes

Life Enrichment Director

Julie Turnes was born in Detroit, MI. She was raised by her parents Thomas and Patricia Edgeworth and is one of 5 siblings. Julie has three sisters, and one brother. Julie has been married to her loving husband, John, for 26 years but does not have any children. Rather, they have adopted two female cats. 

Julie has been in the property management industry for approximately 9 years and then transitioned into the senior living field. She has over 23 years’ experience in the Senior living industry and is currently working as a Director of Activities for Independent seniors. She likes to find what their passion for life is and give them a sense of purpose.

Julie enjoys hiking, swimming, biking, exercising, kayaking, and traveling to the Caribbean Islands with her husband and friends.  She is very enthusiastic, loves to make others laugh and, overall, just loves to have fun. Julie feels blessed each day that the Lord has given her the chance to give back to others to enjoy life to its fullest.

Eric Checkley

Eric Checkley, MS, LNHA, OTRL  joined the Pomeroy Living family January 1st of 2022. He’s a Michigan native who graduated from Western Michigan University with his Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences followed by his Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. Soon after graduation, Eric found his passion in senior living. Prior to joining team Pomeroy, Eric spent approximately 10 years with the 16th largest hospital system in the United States working in various skilled nursing facilities across the country. As an growing professional he quickly progressed his career from an board certified occupational therapist to a director of rehabilitation. Soon after, he transitioned into operations where he became a licensed nursing home adminsitrator.  No matter what position Eric fulfills, his core value still remains strong with ensuring quality care for our senior population. Eric says, “providing compassionate, quality care for our senior population in the Rochester Hills and surrounding communities is my main motivator” The Pomeroy Living Family’s values go hand in hand with providing quality care and we are very excited to have him leading our Rochester Skilled Community!

Becky has been with the Pomeroy Family for approximately six months. From the moment she joined the team she knew she was in the right place. It just felt right! Becky and her team and facility as a whole truly cares about their residents. Her goal is for every resident that comes to Pomeroy Rochester Skilled to have the best care they have ever received. Becky looks forward to what the future holds at Pomeroy. During her down time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and family.

Chef Davey Najor graduated with an Associate degree in Applied Science from Oakland Community College. Davey is also a certified sommelier. He was involved in staffing major sporting events including the World Cup in 1993 at the Silverdome, the Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills Country Club 2003, and Super Bowl 50 in Detroit 2006. He was also involved in opening 5 restaurants from opening, staffing, and training. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, walking, and reading.

Aaron has been the Maintenance Director at Pomeroy Living Rochester Skilled for 4 years. He started as a Maintenance Tech and worked up to Maintenance Director after 6 years. Aaron has 23 years of experience in maintenance in total. He has 2 children and is married to his lovely wife Julie. They enjoy camping and playing multiple sports as a family.

Alice has been with Pomeroy Rochester Skilled for 3 years and in the housekeeping/laundry industry for a total of 18 years. From the day she started here she fell in love with the residents and the staff in her department and with the Pomeroy way of doing things. During her free time Alice is a sports mom. She has a wonderful son who enjoys athletics. She enjoys watching him compete on the athletic fields!

Angela is a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) and has been a recreational therapist for 18 years. She graduated from Michigan State University. She enjoys her role helping others resume healthy enjoyment in living their best life through recreation and socialization. She and her activities team focus on therapeutic activities that enhance and/or maintain the physical, social, cognitive, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of all our residents. “Our goal is to make the lives of others brighter each day!”
