Executive Director Mary Zolno joined Pomeroy Living in January 2019 but has been the Executive Director at our Sterling Assisted & Memory Care community since July of 2018.  Mary brings to this position over 35 years in Executive Administration in the hospitality industry with a strong background in customer service, employee relations and financial oversight.  Mary’s passion for Senior Living came as the result of spending time researching senior communities for her mother from Assisted Living to Memory Care creating a desire to ensure families were able to receive the highest quality of care from someone who understood their concerns.

Mary is focused on providing families and residents with a superior quality experience taking into consideration the need for open communication, compassion and first class care.  Pomeroy’s standard for all aspects of resident care is each staff member should provide the level of care they would expect for the ones they love.

Mary has been married to her wonderful husband Roy for 34 years who continually supported her in the care of her mother and father.     They are the proud parents of 3 young men all living in the metro Detroit area. They love to travel and are avid dog lovers and owners.

Robyn Lanzon

Director of Wellness

Robyn graduated from Nexcare Training Institute with her LPN license in 2010.  Robyn has had various roles in the nursing world, Wound Care Coordinator, Clinical Coordinator, ADON, Admissions Director, Instructor at Dorsey Business.  There is nothing Robyn loves more than caring for people.  After losing her mother, Robyn decided that the world of nursing needed more compassionate people, and since has made it her passion to improve the care people receive.

Tammy graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration. After graduating Tammy dedicated her career to helping and educating families looking for placement for their loved ones. This dedication comes from her experience with her own mother who she lost 13 years ago. She made a promise to be the shining for those she encounters.

Tammy joined Pomeroy Living in 2018 as the Leasing Director. She comes with 25 years of experience in the senior care industry and sees her career not as a job but as personal fulfillment.

Tammy was born in Michigan and is married with 2 lovely boys who fill her days with joy and happiness. During her free time she loves to workout, go fishing, biking and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.

Kathy graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and grew her career working with all different ages ranging from kids to seniors.  Kathy started in Senior Living in an Independent Facility and eventually gained experience in Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Communities as well.  Kathy strives to plan a balanced activity calendar with something physical, social, and cognitive every day to build the whole body.  When not at work Kathy enjoys biking, camping, and watching hockey.  Kathy is married and has 2 adult children.

Michelle Burse started off at the age of 16 as a cook for a senior community. She has worked her way up for the past 25 years in senior living with having nearly every job from dishwasher, porter to now the Executive Chef. Michelle knows that importance of ensuring resident happiness through their appetite, which is her main goal. The fulfillment that Michelle sees as our seniors are engaged in conversation while being catered to during meal service is truly satisfying.

Housekeeping Director

Stephanie Noble came to our building as a Housekeeper in 2015 and with time and dedication she is now the Housekeeping Director and oversees a staff of 6.

Working with seniors has been a passion for Stephanie since she got her first job at 16 as a Dietary Aide in a senior living community. She has cared for both her parents and grandparents through end of life and has experience with dementia and hospice care.

Stephanie was married for 10 years to her husband John who unexpectedly passed away in 2008. Stephanie dedicated her life to raising their children. When she was ready to work there was no doubt she would return to senior living doing what she loved. Stephanie and her staff dedicate themselves on a daily basis to providing our seniors with a clean and safe community.

Maintenance Director

Deatrice Reed began working in maintenance in 2014 as a painter for Price Right Painting and home improvement tasks included hanging drywall and minor electrical work. After leaving Price Right Painting, Deatrice began working for Shiloh Industries, he rose quickly from a secondary welder to line leader to supervisor. Note Deatrice has always been self-motivated and loves working with a team.

Administrator

Sparkle Jackson is a graduate of Central Michigan University where she received a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Public Administration. She has committed herself to the nonprofit industry for over ten years, serving as a supervisor for Saginaw County Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter, consultant for small businesses and grant writer.

In effort to close marginal service gaps in Long Term Care (LTC), Sparkle transitioned to LTC management in 2018 as Social Service Manager. She successfully passed federal and state Nursing Home Administration licensure test in 2020 and has operated in the capacity of a LNHA since.

Sparkle remains active in many ways- as a former board member of Saginaw County Soup Kitchen and current general board with The Physicians Assistants of Color. Serving the healthcare industry is her devoted passion and distinctive pleasure.

Meet Eugene, with a prosperous 14-year tenure at Pomeroy, his professional journey has been continuous growth and commitment. Beginning as a dedicated Unit Manager, he progressed to the role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) before assuming his current position as Director of Nursing (DON). Throughout these roles, his primary focus has been on leveraging his clinical expertise to ensure the highest standards of care.

Beyond the clinical realm, Eugene enjoys spending quality time outdoors with his family, cherishing moments that provide balance to his professional life. As a steadfast member of the Pomeroy team, he’s deeply committed to fostering staff satisfaction, upholding the principles of quality care, and prioritizing the overall satisfaction of our residents. This dedication reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence in healthcare leadership.

Meet Kayla Jackson, a valued Pomeroy Sterling Skilled team member for the past year. With a diverse background spanning culinary and administrative roles, Kayla embodies versatility and a willingness to contribute across various areas. Her all-encompassing approach makes her the go-to person for assistance in different capacities.

At the heart of her responsibilities is welcoming new residents into our community, where Kayla shines with her warm smile and vibrant fashion choices. As a dedicated Admissions team member, she thrives on connecting with new residents, engaging in meaningful conversations, and fostering a sense of community.

Residents eagerly anticipate Kayla's unique style, which brings excitement and joy to their day with her creative fashion choices. Her ability to add a touch of flair enhances the overall experience for residents, making her a beloved and integral part of the Pomeroy Sterling Skilled community.

In October 2023, Karen marked her joyous 35th year at Pomeroy Living. Karen take’s pride in being a graduate of the School of Social Work at Michigan State University, and her allegiance to the university is evident as she proudly bleeds green.

Karen is happily married and has a wonderful stepdaughter who resides in Albany, NY, serving as a dedicated Registered Nurse. Karen and her husband love to travel; each summer, they eagerly journey to New England to visit his family. When the time is right, she looks forward to retiring to Connecticut. 

Lastly, Karen enjoys gardening, sewing, various needlecrafts, reading, and baking during her leisure hours. These pursuits add a delightful dimension to her life.

In her one-year tenure at Pomeroy Sterling Skilled, Shanna Jackson brings over a decade of culinary expertise, from fine dining to spearheading a community program focused on feeding people experiencing homelessness. Shanna is distinguished by her warm and inviting smile, complemented by a culinary talent that infuses each dish with a sense of love.

Shanna is easily identifiable as a dedicated and hardworking team member, whether she's diligently working or flashing her inviting smile. Known as the chef who creates meals with the power to heal the soul, Shanna's culinary skills go beyond the ordinary. Jim Bryant

Maintenance Director

Jim Bryant has been the Maintenance Director at Pomeroy Living Sterling Skilled since 2007. Jim has a total of 33 years of experience in maintenance in long term care. Before becoming involved in nursing facilities, Jim was a journeyman carpenter. Jim brings a wealth of knowledge as well in electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling. His strongest area is fire safety and knowing the federal regulations of the Life Safety Code as it pertains to a nursing facility so that safety systems are properly inspected and up to date. Jim also oversees the Emergency Preparedness at our facility ensuring facility staff are educated on our protocols by conducting training and drills with staff.
